The Lala Lajpatrai College established in 1972, and the library is one of the oldest libraries among the commerce colleges in Mumbai. The college conducts various courses to cater the needs of the society.

Library resources include a growing collection of 37000+ books; current subscriptions to 70+ periodicals and most leading newspapers and audio-visual resources to support every course offered by the college. The library's collection is growing in all subjects every year. There is back volume section for research oriented study. The Lala Lajpatrai Memorial Lecture Series are available in hard copies as well as in digital (.pdf ) form.

From January 2007, the library is fully automated with SOUL library integrated software developed by INFLIBNET (UGC). It is upgraded to SOUL 2.0 in 2010. Library has five terminals with OPAC facilities for searching and locating books and journals meant for students' use. These PCs can be used by students for their Project work, Dissertation etc. Students and Faculty can search the Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) and access library services via the computer network in College Campus. Since 1983 the retrospective conversion of the library catalogue has been done. The books are Bar-coded for circulation service from January 2007.

The library provides instruction in library use through freshman orientation and printed materials. Free internet facility and free interlibrary loan service is provided by library to the students and Staff. The college library is linked with other libraries in Mumbai city. The library service is monitored by the Library Advisory Committee. The book bank facility is available for students who belong to under-privileged sections of the society.

Library has started digital information service through GSDL (GreenStone Digital Library) Open Source Software. Course Syllabus, Question Papers, and Journal Articles etc. can be accessed through GSDL strictly for educational purpose only. The new arrival list, subject gateways list, new URLs in their field of study is delivered in e-form through e-mail.

Library has more than 37000 books and 70+ periodicals in its rich collection. You can access online catalogue for only the books procured since 1983. The retrospective conversion for early years is in progress. The CDs, VCDs, DVDs also available in its collection. You can browse the Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) i.e. BOOK SEARCH (Only on College Intranet)
College library is lnter-linked with the Lala Lajpatrai Institute of Management (LLIM) library and Lala Lajpatrai college students can get llim library resources on Inter Library Loan.

Since 1972 College has been conducting Lala Lajpatrai Memorial Lectures on Lala Lajpatrai's Birth Day i.e. 28th January of every year. You can browse in college OPAC (OPAC is only available on intranet in college campus) where the link is given for respective year to browse the lecture series in pdf form.

The Best Library User Award is given on the basis of the library resources used by a student and innovative ideas bringing to develop the library services. His or her behaviour in the college and the marks secured in previous year annual exam is taken in to account. Year-wise list who have won the best library user award is given in following table.
